Beach And Sun

Many Beaches and Sun in Tuscany !

Here some descriptions of the major areas, with some of my personal opinions and experiences.

Costs of the Etrusces

The Etruscan Coast is located in the province of Livorno and is so called for the many Etruscan Necropolis spread in the area, it is predominantly sandy. They are almost free beaches, so you can choose for going to a free or pay beach.

I kindly suggest the golden beaches of Baratti for the very clear water and San Vincenzo, it has a nice village to visit too.

If you like free and wide sandy beach I strongly recommed to visit Spiagge Bianche, White Beaches, the Rosignano area is famous for the white beaches of Rosignano Solvay and Vada. These beaches are very beautiful and the sea is very clear, although this splendor is the result of Artificial Whitening due to the presence of Solvay.

Versilia Beaches

The beach of Versilia is sandy, long and wide and famous for nightlife and fun, they are all private beaches

The coast goes from Forte dei Marmi, to the north, to Viareggio, to the south. Forte dei Marmi and Lido di Camaiore are the most frequented areas. Here the beaches are all private. The first free beach is located in Marina di Pietrasanta.

I recommed for spending a dinner to Pietrasanta, the upper village center, it is very very nice and romantic, it is a must 🙂 You can stay at the beach during the day and in the late afternoon go there for visiting and having dinner in a outdoor restaurant you choose. In Marina di Pietrasanta there is a free beach too (very very small one), I think the only one in Versilia.

Pisa Beaches

The nearest beaches are in the province of Pisa, they are narrower and surrounded by groves and pine forests. The currents are usually strong although in Marina di Pisa there are beaches suitable for families and children. Choose Tirrenia and Calambrone if you prefer free and quiet beaches.

Farther Away Beaches

Marina di Alberese, to the south of Marina di Grosseto, is the most suitable beach for families. In general, in this area the beaches are wide and stretch out in front of large and beautiful pinewoods.

Cala Violina, in the town of Scarlino, is a beautiful cove that is part of the Scarlino Natural Reserve of the Bandits. Here the sand is white and the sea is transparent. To reach it it is necessary to walk for about twenty minutes.

They are all free beaches and some privarte.
